How to remove rust from your knife?

Corrosion (aka "rust") is common.

The word "Stainless Steel" is a bit odd because no steel is 100% stainless. The variation of rust tends to be directly related the amount of chromium in the knife (north of 10.5% is defined as "Stainless Steel") however addition of Chromium softens the blades. So knife makers are playing a balancing act.
